It dawned on me as I sifted through random people’s tumblers that I am not ready to go. I signed up to go to Japan for a year so technically there’s no turning back. I have only take Japanese for 2 years and I can barely hold a basic convo. Japanese at Spelman sucks! My classes will be in Japanese, I’m living in a dorm with Japanese people and I don’t speak the language. I may take a Japanese intensive class this summer at the U of MN in hopes to become slightly conversational. It is 4 hours a day 5 days a week. I need to somehow memorize 300 kanji before I go so that should be interesting. Well wish me luck, thanks for listening to my rant and if you have any advice tell me now!
I miss this place already. I’m actually a bit sad I can’t do a semester here. If only I could study abroad for 1.5 years and actually graduate lol
Last Friday I was selected as a Boren scholar! Really excited about it since I wasn’t expecting to get it. When I originally applied it was only for a semester and they stated they prefer applicants who are going for 6+ months. Now I’m headed to Japan for a year to study at Tsuda College. I’ve only taken Japanese for two years, I’m awful at it and I don’t know how I will survive. Gotta hope for the best!
